Music is a universal language that brings people together. From the sound and rhythm of the heartbeat in utero, to the tapping of a toe or a pen when we hear a beat as adults, humans are born with the predisposition to engage and respond to musical stimuli. Music evokes emotion, activates the brain, produces physical responses (moving, dancing), builds empathy and understanding, is associated with behaviors such as healing and love, and it exists in every culture.
Assembly Workshops
Building Bridges with Music is a non-profit organization that travels the state of MI bringing FREE programming to schools and community centers rooted in a mission to use music and the creative arts as a medium for connection. Our assembly workshops weave together live jazz music composed by Jeff Hass, and performed by the Bridges Quintet, with personal narratives and storytelling that serve as a springboard for discussions regarding open-mindedness, understanding, and respect.
